Mixed Gas CCR

This program generally takes at least and sux dives. With sufficient notice, we can usually offer this course when it’s most convenient for you.

• Be at least 18 years old
• Be certified to at least the Air Diluent CCR level.
• Be able to answer No to all the questions on the medical history questionnaire or obtain a physician’s approval for diving.

You supply:

• Mask
• Adjustable scuba fins
• Adequate exposure protection for depth and water temperature
• A Closed-Circuit Rebreather (CCR)
• Adequate open-circuit bailout bottles
• Mission-capable dive computer(s)
• Underwater compass
• Dive knife/cutting tool(s)
• Primary and backup dive lights
• SMB and reel or spool

Be aware that equipment for technical diving must meet some very specific requirements. Do not make any equipment purchases before first consulting with your instructor.

Students are also responsible for gas fills and boat fees or dive site admission.

The Mixed Gas CCR course trains divers to take their rebreathers as deep as 200 feet using Trimix as a diluent.

To reduce the risk of oxygen toxicity and keep the gas in the loop within the desired setpoint, the diluent may be at least slightly hypoxic. This means you could not breathe put diluent in shallow water and would need to bail out to open circuit in case of CCR failure.

Important: Be aware that all CCR training is unit-specific. You are not certified to dive any CCR; just the specific make and model on which you trained.
