South Florida is home to a phenomenon that divers will experience nowhere else in the United States. That is the Gulf Stream. Nowhere else in the USA does the Gulf Stream pass so close to shore.
The Gulf Stream not only affects where we dive but how. Even when a boat is able to moor directly to a wreck or reef, the presence of current will dictate the procedures we must follow.
When not diving in a fixed location, such as a wreck, the best way to explore our many reef lines is to let the current carry us. Doing so allows us to go farther, see more and expend less effort doing it.
