Master the Shore Entry
Beach diving gives you the freedom to dive without a boat, but surf, currents and changing conditions require good planning and proper technique. It helps you:
- Evaluate surf, currents and beach conditions
- Master safe shore entries and exits
- Properly manage equipment in the surf
- Plan navigation from shore
- Improve buddy awareness and communication
- Become more confident and independent diving from the beach

This program generally takes just one day and two dives. With sufficient notice, we can usually offer this course when it’s most convenient for you.
- Be at least 10 years old. Students ages 10-14 may qualify for special Junior certification. Learn more.
- Be certified to at least the Open Water Diver level.
- Be able to answer No to all the questions on the medical questionnaire or obtain a physician’s approval for diving.

Items you don’t already own are generally available for rent. Students are also responsible for gas fills and boat fees or dive site admission.
If you learned to dive from us, you learned all about entering from a beach or shore. Not everyone is so lucky.
- Some only learned how to fall off a dive boat.
- Others learned in a spring, lake or rock quarry where there are no waves or current.
Knowing how to dive from shore can greatly expand your diving opportunities. It can also save you from always having to pay charter fees.
The knowledge and skills for diving from land are what we cover in the Beach and Shore Diving course. It’s fun and you will be surprised at how much you learn.

Most importantly, we don’t practice these skills until you finally get them right. We have you repeat them until you can’t do them wrong.
