VIP Instructor

In order for there to be qualified scuba cylinder inspectors, there must first be instructors to train them. The VIP Instructor course is a one-day program designed to train individuals with at least six months’ experience as a tank inspector to share that experience with other qualified individuals.
You can sign up in person, over the phone or online by clicking the button below. If you sign up online, you will still need to call to schedule your class.
This program generally takes a full day. With sufficient notice, we can usually offer this course when it’s most convenient for you.
- Be at least 21 years old.
- Prior training and certification in visual cylinder inspecction
- At least six months’ experience as a cylinder inspector.
- Possess Assistant Instructor or Instructor certification.
- Be affliated with an entity that fills scuba cylinders.
- Provide proof of having inspected at least 50 cylinders.

The VIP Instructor course is a one-day program designed to train individuals with at least six months’ experience as a tank inspector to share that experience with other qualified individuals.
All training takes place at Aquatic Ventures; there is no diving involved.

- Teach legal requirements, standards of the community
Safe Handling of Cylinders
- Teach fill station operator rules and recommendations
- Teach identification of various cylinder markings
- Teach legal/illegal filling requirements
- Teach filling procedures
- Teach tools and their uses
Visual Inspection Indications
- Teach proper identification of the various defect conditions
- Teach criteria for rejection and condemnation
- Teach defining the criteria for cylinder rejection
- Teach defining the criteria for condemning a cylinder

- Teach valve inspection and cleaning
- Teach compressor operations
- Teach oxygen cleaning
Visual Inspection Procedures Practical
- Teach visual inspection and documentation of cylinder

Most importantly, we don’t practice these skills until you finally get them right. We have you repeat them until you can’t do them wrong.
