This program generally takes three days and four dives to complete. We provide both group and private courses to accommodate our customers’ specific needs. Classes are conducted six out of seven days a week so finding a date to start your course is very easy.
Be aware that you must complete all eLearning prior to the start of your class. This generally takes eight to twelve hours, with most people completing it much quicker.
- Be at least 10 years old. Students ages 10-14 may qualify for special Junior certification. Learn more.
- Be comfortable and relaxed in water too deep to stand and able to swim 200 yards, non-stop.
- Be able to answer No to all the questions on the medical questionnaire or obtain a physician’s approval for diving.
The normal price is $459.95/person plus $139.95 for eLearning.
For a limited time, we are running a special. $425.95, that is over $174 off the retail price. The sale price has no hidden fee’s, and no accelerated training fee’s. We believe everyone deserves quality training that doesn’t take months to complete. The price includes:
- eLearning
- All instruction
- Certification processing and card when earned (printed in shop)
- Use of all equipment
By default, we certify through Scuba Diving International (SDI). We can also certify through PADI and other agencies. We also offer both Group and Private training classes.
- If you choose PADI, the price is $599/person plus $210.00 for PADI’s eLearning.
- Regardless of which agency you choose, you will get the same course, covering the same topics and skills, and taught by the same highly skilled instructors.
- Your certification will be equally recognized worldwide.
- The only difference is that PADI charges more for its training materials.
Your course fee includes use of all equipment other than swimsuit and towel.
- Many of our students, however, choose to purchase their own mask, snorkel, wetsuit boots and adjustable scuba fins.
- Doing so helps ensure you are the only person your mask and snorkel will come into contact with.
- It also helps prevent you from having to learn how a new set of fins feels every time you dive.
If you choose to purchase these personal equipment items from us while you are a student, you receive a 20% discount.
If your goal is to become a certified scuba diver, this is where you start.
- The course generally takes three full days.
- You’ll begin by completing all the academics through eLearning. You can do this when and where it’s convenient but you will need to have finished before in-water training starts.
- On the first day of class we meet at the store to review your eLearning and get you fitted for equipment.
- Next, we go to the pool, where you will master nearly two dozen fundamental scuba skills.
- On days two and three, we make a total of four training dives off local beaches.
If you complete all requirements successfully, you’ll earn your internationally recognized Open Water Diver card.
Diving can be very safe if you have the proper training and equipment. There are no shortcuts to safety, however. This is why you must be careful of places that advertise “half-price scuba courses” or claim you can “get certified in just two days.” Seriously, which half of a half-price scuba course do you think you can live without?
Our courses are thorough. They include at least three days of in-water training. And if it takes longer to master essential skills, we will invest the time to do so. Among the skills we cover:
- Watermanship assessment
- Regulator recovery and clearing
- Mask clearing (partial and full)
- Mask removal/replacement
- No mask swim (15 m/50 ft)
- BC oral inflation (surface)
- Surface swim (50 m/50 yd)
- Cramp removal
- Tired diver tow
- BC use under water (power and oral)
- Swim, stop and turn while neutral
- Descents and ascents (with reference)
- Descents and ascents (without reference)
- Alternate air source use (stationary)
- Alternate air source ascent
- Independent emergency ascent
- Regulator free flow
- Air depletion exercise
- Runaway power inflator
- Weight removal/replacement (surface)
- Scuba removal/replacement (surface)
- Weight removal/replacement (underwater)
- Scuba removal/replacement (underwater)
Bear in mind, we don’t practice these skills until you finally get them right. We have you repeat them until you can’t get them wrong. This is the only way to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment.
