Wreck Diving

Wrecks are among the most popular of all dive sites. They can range from artificial reefs, such as we have along the Florida coast, to wrecks that sunk solely due to a manmade or natural disaster.
This program is an entry-level wreck diving course. It’s aimed at recreational divers using standard scuba equipment. It generally takes two days and four dives. You can sign up in person, over the phone or online by clicking the button below. If you sign up online, you will still need to call to schedule your class.
This program generally takes two days. With sufficient notice, we can usually offer this course when it’s most convenient for you.
We do have one course already scheduled. It takes place:
- Saturday, March 15, 2025
- Be at least 10 years old. Students ages 10-14 may qualify for special Junior certification. Learn more.
- Be certified to at least the Open Water Diver level.
- Be able to answer No to all the questions on the medical questionnaire or obtain a physician’s approval for diving.
$689.98/person includes:

- Certification processing when earned
Studdents are also responsible for two days of boat diving. Costs here will vary depending on the boat used.
You supply:
- Mask and snorkel
- Adjustable scuba fins and wetsuit boots
- Adequate exposure protection
- Cylinder (one per dive)
- Regulator system with alternate air source
- BC with integrated weight system or weight belt
- Weights
- Dive computer
- Underwater compass
- Dive knife/cutting tool
- Dive light
- SMB
Items you don’t already own are generally available for rent. Students are also responsible for gas fills and boat fees or dive site admission.

- Learning the history behind the wrecks.
- Understanding the risks and hazards inherent in wreck exploration.
- Seeing things others might miss.
This is an entry-level wreck diving course. It’s aimed at recreational divers using standard scuba equipment.
We also offer an Advanced Wreck course. It covers limited wreck penetration.

In this course, we cover:
Open Water Dive 1
- Pre-dive review of dive computer
- Dive planning
- Familiarization with wreck/structure and test lights
- Basic charting outside of wreck
- Useage of lines and reels outside of wreck
- Ascend and perform safety stop
Open Water Dive 2
- Dive planning
- Figure surface interval (for repetitive deep dives)
- Perform mapping including compass heading and depth
- Maintain neutral buoyancy during mapping
- Ascend and perform safety stop
Open Water Dive 3
- Dive planning
- Use of lines inside wreck
- Simulate loss of light and follow lines outside of wreck
- Maintain neutral buoyancy during dive (no silting)
- Ascend and perform safety stop
Open Water Dive 4 (optional)
- Dive planning
- External tour of wreck or structure
- Internal tour of wreck or structure
- Simulate loss of buoyancy
- Simulate loss of visibility
- Ascend and perform safety stop
Most importantly, we don’t practice these skills until you finally get them right. We have you repeat them until you can’t do them wrong.
