The wreck
Built in 1956 in the Netherlands, what we now call the Rodeo 25 passed through several owners and multiple names. By 1986, she lay abandoned in the Miami River. Deployed as an artificial reef in 1990, her sinking coincided with the Pompano Beach Fishing Rodeo’s 25th anniversary.

The diving
The Rodeo 25 is 215 feet long with a beam of 33 feet. She sits in 125 feet of water off Pompano, with her masts reaching within 68 feet of the surface. For photographers, the wreck creates a variety of dramatic silhouette shots. Bait balls can circle the masts as jacks and other predators swoop in for the kill.
