The wreck

Today, the Edmister sits in 70 feet of water, 1,000 feet south of the Jay Scutti and other members of the Fort Lauderdale Wreck Trek. In 1992, Hurricane Andrew damaged the wreck, wiping away much of the superstructure but leaving most of the hull for divers to enjoy.

The diving

The Edmister’s 70-foot depth puts it in the range of most certified divers. Like other members of the artificial reef program, the wreck is home to a wide variety of corals and fish. You may encounter lobsters, eels and other solitary creatures hiding among the wreckage. There will usually be schools of fish in varying sizes sheltering inside the hull.
