Alex Nuñez • Master Instructor
Since becoming certified in 1990, Alex has made more than 3,500 dives over five continents and the Caribbean. He describes his experience this way:
“Diving has taken me from one underwater adventure to the next, but it’s actually here, in South Florida, where I’ve done most of my diving. Up and down the coastline, and throughout the Keys, South Florida is home to some of the best diving on Earth.”
His favorite diving activities include wreck penetration and diving in other overhead environments.
Alex became a dive instructor in 2007 and has since certified over 350 divers. His instructor ratings include:
- PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
- NASE Open Water Instructor
- SDI Open Water Instructor
He is authorized to teach at least 21 difference Specialty Diver courses. Additionally, he holds ratings as:
- US Navy Explosive Ordnance Disposal Diver
- Circus Show Support Diver
For the past two years, Alex has been working at Scuba Tank Services, Aquatic Ventures’ tank inspection, testing and reconditioning facility. He spends weekends teaching Specialty Diver courses and certifying new students to dive South Florida’s beautiful waters. He says:
“Our staff is a team in every sense of the word. Safety is top priority at Aquatic Ventures. It’s inspiring to work with a team that shares the same work ethic and values. Our instructors know how to coordinate their dive experience to bring you a training experience like no other.”
As far as life off the clock, Alex says:
“I’m a big advocate for living a balanced, healthy and active lifestyle, so you’ll often find me preparing new, healthy recipes in the kitchen and staying physically fit swimming and running along our beaches. I’m an avid photographer, gaming geek, father to two furbabies and a lover of books and more books. Another fun fact. I’m currently back in school combining two of my favorite things, history and diving, towards a career of discovery in Underwater Archaeology.”
